Online casino: Croatian regulatory policy
The functions of the gambling regulator perform by the Ministry of Finance and the Republic of Croatia, guided by Zakon o igrama na sreću (after this — the Law). The government has issued additional by-laws governing the organization of each permitted type of gambling entertainment, including online casinos.
Adult players (over 18 years old) can play in online casinos. They must be registered and identified.
In the online casino of Croatia you can play in:
- Lotteries (classic, commodity, instant).
- Different varieties of lotto.
- Toto and its variations (sports forecast).
- Bingo.
- Keno
- Betting (on different results, events).
- Games against casinos or visitors on gaming tables (for example, balls, cards or dice, roulette, baccarat).
- Slot machines.
Local organizations can get permission to open an online casino — the Government of Croatia grants license after a tender. The application considered within 60 days.
Licensees prohibited from:
- advertise casinos on the Internet on resources for minors;
- use uncertified software
- provide loans to users;
- cooperate with suppliers that do not have permits for activity.
The Ministry of Finance may request an independent software compliance check.
Foreign companies cannot provide or advertise online gaming services in the Republic of Croatia (Section 68 of the Law). Foreign citizens and persons temporarily residing in the country can play in international online casinos.
The licensee company servers must locate in Croatia and, in real-time, transmit information to the regulator about registered players, bets made, and winnings paid.
Gambling addiction technical support and treatment in Croatia
Registered users can set the number of expenses or losses for the selected period.
The player can contact the operator for suspension from the game for six months, one year, five years, or until the application (list self-excluded players). Confirm the request for self-exclusion required within three days.
The withdrawal of the restriction must be submitted by the player in writing or by electronic notification.
